Sitting atop the rolling hills of the Endless Mountains, Mountain View Elementary is located along State Route 106 between Kingsley and Lenox, PA. Built in 1991, our school consolidated three small rural elementary schools from the towns of Brooklyn, Clifford, and Harford. We strive to keep the memories of these schools alive by showcasing various artifacts from the three former schools in our lobby, and we still have the original school bells, which we ring at the end of fire drills. Today, we are still a small rural school, but we are able to offer music, art, physical education/health, computer science, and library classes during the school day.
Learning doesn’t just end when the bell rings, and so we offer after-school activities such as softball, basketball, and volleyball for grades 5-6, after-school tutoring, and music through band and bell choir. Our teachers also ensure that every year students are able to attend field trips at local farms, museums, and historical societies to support their education outside of the classroom.
Mountain View Elementary currently provides education for 483 students between Pre-K and 6th grade with an average class size of 22 students. All grades have access to modern technology in the classrooms and in our computer lab. Title I services are available to students in Grades K-5 in Reading and in Math. Teachers implement Hybrid Learning, where each student’s needs and strengths may be met in an individual or small group setting.
Our staff consists of one principal, 38 regular education teachers, 6 special education teachers, one school nurse, one school counselor, one at-risk counselor, one school psychologist, 14 paraprofessionals, and five clerical staff members. Our staff works diligently every day to serve our community and provide the best possible education for our students.
