  • The Mountain View School District is strategically located in Susquehanna County, midway between the urban centers of greater Scranton, Pennsylvania and Binghamton, New York. Susquehanna County presents itself as an ecologically sound and environmentally friendly county. Many of our residents commute from the scenic countryside to work in nearby Scranton, Binghamton, and Tunkhannock.

The main sources of income are natural gas production, dairy farming, bluestone quarries, lumbering, berry farms, concrete sales, Christmas tree farms and numerous other small businesses. We have many lakes and streams, as well as numerous varieties of wildlife, which makes our area well known for its good hunting, fishing, hiking, and other recreational activities. The area's largest ski resort is located near the school district.

Mountain View School District covers an area of approximately 195 square miles. The Campus is located on the top of a mountain with a spectacular view of many other hills and mountains, thus capturing the spirit of our name. The campus has a K-6 elementary center with about 514 students and a 7-12 secondary level center with about 517 students. Mountain View Elementary School opened in 1991, combining the rich heritage of Harford, Brooklyn, and Clifford elementary schools. Mountain View Junior-Senior High School graduated its first class in 1960. Since then, the building has been completely renovated, with state of the art science and music wings added in 2002.Both buildings are modern and well maintained on scenic grounds.

Mountain View School District seeks to continue to be an educational center where education is a lifelong process and where care is expressed every day, in every action, and in every life.
