Masking Announcement-Sunday, December 12, 2021

December 12, 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians,

On Monday, November 22, 2021, the Mountain View Board of Education voted to allow the wearing of masks to be optional and at the discretion of each school employee, school visitor, and/or student pending the elimination of the masking mandate issued by the Department of Health.

On Friday, December 10, 2021, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court struck down the Acting Secretary of Health’s school masking order.  As a result of this decision, starting on Monday, December 13, 2021, the Mountain View School District will transition to optional masking.  This decision does not impact the federal directive requiring all passengers and drivers to wear a mask on school buses.
As the positive cases of COVID-19 continue to be high in the county, the Mountain View School District still recommends the wearing of masks in the school buildings.  The district will continue to be vigilant with our cleaning and sanitizing practices, along with physical distancing and proper and frequent hand washing.
