State Masking Requirements

September 9, 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The masking order from the Acting Department of Health Secretary Alison Beam, requiring all students and staff to wear masks in all public and private K-12 schools in the Commonwealth began on Tuesday, September 7, 2021.  The order is now available for you to read on our Mountain View website under the “News” section. Masks will be provided for all students who need or request them in all district buildings.

Upon entering each school building, you will see signs indicating all teachers, staff, students and visitors are required to wear face coverings.  However, in Section 3 of the masking order, you will find a list of exemptions. If your child falls within one of these exemptions, please contact your child’s principal or school nurse.

After consultation with your child’s principal and/or school nurse, a MVSD exemption letter will be provided.  This letter is to be agreed upon, completed, and must be accompanied by a doctor’s note. If your exemption is approved, it does not apply to district provided transportation.

I want to thank all of you for your collaboration and communication as we navigate the school year together through these challenging times.

Sincerely,

Dr. Michael S. Elia

Superintendent of Schools
