Mountain View District Summer School Letter- May 12, 2021

May 12, 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Mountain View School District is proud to announce that we will be offering summer school educational learning opportunities for grades K-12.  The goal of our district summer school educational offerings is to provide all students with additional learning opportunities. These engaging learning opportunities will allow students to positively reacclimate back to school in the fall, keep the students excited about learning, help to re-socialize them back into the school process as well as assist them at becoming more focused on looking ahead for future learning opportunities at the next grade level.

The elementary school will be offering a summer reading camp, for 4 weeks, for grades K-3 beginning in July.  In addition, the elementary school will be offering a STEM camp for grades 4-6 beginning in June.  Dr. Lake will be sending out specific information concerning each of these educational programs in the next week or so.  The educational platform of IXL and i-Ready will also be made available to all students in grades K-6 so students can work at home over the summer in the areas of language arts and mathematics.

The high school is looking into offering in-person credit recovery courses for grades 9-12.  Additionally, all high school students in grades 7-11 will be offered the opportunity to take credit recovery and/or enrichment courses from home through our NOLA program.  Dr. Lemoncelli will be sending out specific information concerning each of these educational programs in the next week or so.

The Mountain View School District will also be offering our extended school year program for all eligible students in-person this summer for grades K-12.  Please contact Mrs. Erica Loftus, our Director of Special Services with any questions concerning our extended school year program.

If you have any questions or concerns leading into the end of the school year, please feel free to contact me at 570-434-2180.

Sincerely,

Dr. Michael S. Elia

Superintendent of Schools
