An Important Message from Dr. Elia 1-27-2021
January 27, 2021
As the second quarter has now come to a close, I wanted to thank you for your continued support for the school district as we work as partners to provide the best education we can during the pandemic. I want to congratulate all of our students in every grade level for working hard and meeting the challenges that come with learning from home. The Mountain View School District administration, faculty and staff continue to be laser focused and committed to doing everything we can to provide a consistent and progressive educational experience that is as challenging and rewarding as possible.
We are excited to report that on January 20th, 110 vaccines were issued to our administration, faculty and staff. With the first dose of the vaccination, only small side effects were reported. However, research so far has shown us that the second vaccination comes with more side effects, such as: fever, headaches, body and muscle aches, fatigue, and joint pain. These side- effects can last up to 48 hours. The second vaccination clinic for our 110 employees to receive their second dose is Wednesday, February 17. On Thursday, February 18, and Friday, February 19th, the school district will engage in virtual learning from home due to the high percentage of possible side effects related to the second vaccine.
Over the next couple of weeks, our students will be taking mid-year benchmarks assessments in mathematics and language arts. These assessments will provide the district with a clear road map for our instructional approaches and practices moving forward both for the rest of this year and looking forward into next year. We will be able to identify both individual educational needs and grade level needs. Our goals upon reviewing this benchmark data are to develop priority areas of educational focus. We will be sharing this information with families as it becomes available.
We are hoping for many safe and positive days ahead for the second half of the school year. We will continue to update all of you as information related to COVID-19 updates and changes. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
Dr. Michael S. Elia
