A Message from Dr. Elia Regarding the District's Educational Platform for November, December and January

November 24, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I wanted to take this opportunity to update all of you on the educational platform of the district during the months of November, December and January 2021.  Our goal, as I have expressed previously, is to provide the safest and most productive in-person school environment for our faculty, staff and students during the pandemic.  Our district and building safety protocols and procedures are reviewed on a weekly basis by our administrative team.  Any necessary updates and safety adjustments are swiftly made as the needs of our school community changes and/or the specific requirements from the state are updated. The school district will continue in the Hybrid educational platform until Wednesday, December 23.

At our school board meeting last evening, the school board voted to move to a Virtual educational platform beginning on Monday, January 4, 2021 and ending on Friday, January 15, 2021. The Virtual educational platform will safely provide our faculty, staff and students with a quarantine bridge from the start of the holidays to the reopening of in-person (Hybrid) instruction.  The school district will reopen for in-person instruction for Group A in the Hybrid model on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 after the Martin Luther King Jr. scheduled holiday on Monday, January 18.

Our administration, faculty and staff will stay vigilantly committed to school safety and to providing the best educational experience for all students.  Thank you for your continued partnership and collaboration as we continue to work through these challenging experiences.  I will continue to provide as many updates as possible as we enter into a busy holiday season.

Please feel free to contact your child’s building principal with any specific questions.  Additionally, please do not hesitate to contact me with any district questions at melia@mvsd.net or 570-434-2180.

Sincerely,

Dr. Michael S. Elia
