COVID-19 Statement 8/30/21

August 30, 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Mountain View School District became aware late last evening and this morning of (3) positive student cases at the elementary school and (1) positive case at the high school.  All families will be contacted this morning and informed of the next steps. We will conduct contact tracing this morning and any known contacts will be notified and quarantined.

Based on Susquehanna County recently moving to the “High” transmission level in combination with our newest positive COVID-19 cases, the Mountain View School District is transitioning requiring masks/face coverings starting Tuesday, August 31, 2021.  This mask requirement will remain in place until Friday, September 10, 2021.

On September 10th, based on the Susquehanna County COVID-19 transmission rate and the number of positive cases in the school community, the mask requirement may move back to optional.  I will send out information about the district mask requirement before the end of the day on September 10, 2021.  Our main goal is student safety and keeping our students in school full-time.

The Mountain View School District will continue to be vigilant with its safety protocols and procedures to help ensure the safest environment possible for our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 570-434-2180 or email me at
