Census Enumerators Needed for MVSD

As I understand there is currently a shortage of qualified Census Workers for the MVSD area. Ten (10) years ago when the United States Census was completed the Mountain View School District (MVSD) was not adequately covered for the census. As a result the MVSD lost the Title I Concentration Grant funding. Financially this meant a reduction of Title I funding in the neighborhood of $160,000 per year for the school district. In order to regain the Title I Concentration Grant status the MVSD must be adequately covered by census enumerators in order to ensure that all residents are counted. We will not be able to recoup the lost funding; however, an accurate census may place the school district in a better position to qualify for additional funding in the future.
A flyer prepared by the U. S. Government to obtain Census Workers for the 2010 Census may be accessed by clicking on the attachment. This flyer provides an explanation of the census effort and how to proceed with application. The rate of payment for census enumerators was projected at $11.00 per hour plus mileage reimbursement; this will be verified during the application process.
In order to accommodate the working families a large portion of the census work is accomplished evenings and weekends. This could work out schedule wise for part-time employment for many of the MVSD residents or for family and friends that live in the MVSD surrounding area.
Thank you for any support that may be provided to ensure an accurate census for the MVSD.
